John Parker

One of the great things about running for Congress is that I get to renew old acquaintences. This week, I met with a breakfast club in Columbus, and John Parker was i attendance. Over 30 years ago, Mr. Parker was my Boy Scout Troop master in BSA Troop 35, Columbus, Mississippi. He took about 20 of us on an overnight trip to the state capitol.
For most of those teenagers, the Capitol was an old building that was fun to look at for five minutes before they were ready to go swimming.
For one boy that day, I saw the Legislature in action and was facinated. I decided that day that it would be awsome to actually be one of those legislators.
I am the product of many people who help mold me into the man I am today...teachers, coaches, Sunday Scool leaders, and Scout Leaders.
Thank you John Parker for investing your time with a group of teenage boys.
